I’ve been enjoying Brian Thompson’s podcast for a little while now. He’s a funny guy. He basically uses news items as a springboard for some pretty hardcore satire. Swearin’ words abound. No sacred cows. Do check it out.

Ah, the smell of paint, the feel of ink stains on your fingers, the burn of the eraser…well, since I’m drawing digitally I don’t have any of that stuff but sometimes I miss it!
Right now I’m working on new comics. I’ve been rather quiet lately, not posting a lot of new stuff. Lots of reasons for this but one reason is simply that I have my mind bent on creating. I’m working. I’m drawing. I’m in a zone. And, of course, I”m a busy guy with a job and wee ones running around.
The new stuff is looking cool. I’m finding that special place in my heart where I can just work, just draw, just move forward with what I’m doing. Once I get a sufficient amount of this stuff done I’m going to publish a comic book. In print. Yeah, it’s been done before once or twice, natch. But its been a while for me. I need to hold that book and know that I finished it. Its important for me.
I don’t care about selling it or whatever. I’m just focused on doing it. I still have that lofty goal of plastering a wall with comic books I’ve published or that have been published for me. So far I’ve got a good start, I guess. I’ve got a couple of standard sized books in print and a slew of small press digests and minis and such. but what I want now is a wall of comic books…the kind of comic books I grew up with. Saddle-stitched, with color covers and colors on the inside, filled with tales of adventure and what-not.
Of course mine will have naked breasts and swearin’ words, natch.
This one actually comes from a panel to a comic I toyed with prior to Zyn Dweomer. The original was of a catgirl, so I doodled off this version of the image for shits and giggles.
I can’t tell you how many times I’ve toyed with new comics. I have tons of sketched pages, inked pages, colored pages, lettered pages…all to comics that I started but didn’t finish. Now, the way I phrased that last sentence sounds negative and I believe I’m sort of trained to see it that way. But in reality this is just how I work. Very often I have to actually get my hands dirty with a project before I really know whether or not I want to do it. I’m not one of these guys who makes a decision up front and then does it 100% without flinching. I’m not that guy. I’m the guy who noodles an idea, doodles it, inks some of it, and then says “Nah, I’m not into this.”
I guess it was almost two years ago I did a spurt of these sexy catgirl pictures. I remember in a period of maybe two weeks I cranked out several dozen pages of sketches and drawings similar to this one. I love it when those prolific moods strike and I can’t stop drawing stuff. It doesn’t happen often enough.
